Uplifting Communities by Empowering Mircoenterprises

GogreenTarango is a social venture under Tarango that emerged from the Sustainable Enterprise Project (SEP), funded by the World Bank and managed by the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF). Our objective is to improve the livelihoods of handloom and power-loom weavers in Bangladesh by implementing sustainable techniques. We focus on rural development, women's empowerment, and cultural heritage preservation, all of which are in line with the PKSF and UN Sustainable Development Goals. We intend to empower and reskill loom communities.

Elegance Meets Sustainability

We cherish the timeless connection between people and the natural world. Through capacity building of rural artisans in sustainable techniques like natural dyeing, we strive to uphold this bond even as industrialization rises. Our social enterprise empowers loom weavers by improving their market access. In doing so, we build resilience among traditional craftspeople while preserving Bangladesh’s living cultural heritage. Our initiative facilitates harmony between humans and nature through ethical, eco-conscious practices.

Crafted with Care, Dyed Naturally

GogreenTarango is committed to using natural colors such as turmeric, horitoki, bohera, amla, beetroot, and indigo to color our fabrics. This helps us to avoid using synthetic dyes that contain toxic chemicals that damage waterways and jeopardize workers’ health. We strictly enforce ethical norms that forbid child labor and prioritize the well-being of craftspeople. Natural dyes made from plant-based materials are safer for weavers, consumers, and the environment. By adopting this sustainable choice, we are able to protect the health of all stakeholders while producing attractive, eco-friendly fabrics.

Preserving Traditions Protecting Tomorrow

Crafted with Care, Dyed Naturally

We assist weavers in gaining access to wider markets, allowing them to continue practicing their ancient trade while adjusting to changing conditions. Our items combine traditional artisan processes with modern, fashion-forward designs. This enables loom weavers to maintain century-old excellence while also innovating to satisfy new customer wants. We allow these skilled artisans to maintain their cultural heritage as master weavers while evolving with the times by enabling them to sell their wares in new markets.

The Project Area Map under SEP

The SEP project places a special emphasis on areas that are highly susceptible to environmental vulnerabilities caused by climate change. This initiative encompasses 30 chosen sub-sectors, with the project’s initial phase focusing on 30 selected districts. Through its activities, the project intends to extend a range of financial and non-financial services to approximately 60,000 micro-enterprises. Heralded as a pioneering effort, this project is anticipated to pave the way for the expansion of environmentally sustainable cluster-based small-scale enterprises, thereby offering a new direction for economic growth.
